WARD GRIFFIN, CEO of Ottawa-based The Lowe-Martin Group, received a $25,000 rebate cheque
from Hydro Ottawa and the Ontario Power Authority for its participation in the Electricity
Retrofit Incentive Program. Among several en-ergy-use programs, Lowe-Martin highlights its
recent T5 lighting retrofit, which provides a 66
percent longer lamp life than the previously installed system, as well as energy savings of over
370,000 kilo-watt hours per year. In January
2009, Lowe-Martin also received the Hydro Ottawa Companies for Conservation Award.
SAL INDOVINA, owner of Mississauga-based
MacLaser Printing, oversaw the installation of a
new Morgana UFO, primarily to handle the
company’s right-angle and roll-folding work.
The 18 x 25-inch format machine features automated fold plates, side-lay register, and swing-up perforating and scoring, while pulsed suction
feeding aids in the separation of toner-based
work with high levels of static and curl. Indov-ina also purchased an optional cross-fold unit
for the Morgana UFO, which has the ability to
swing to the left or right and run straight in-line
for roll folding.
DAVID ADAMS of C.J. Graphics and Greg
Maloney of AGOG House of Lenticular helped
to produce PrintAction’s 2010 Buyer’s Guide,

Arts Awards program. The printing category was

Gilbert). Other award recipients in this year’s
printing category include: St. Joseph Print, An-dora Graphics, Metropolitan Fine Printers,

NATIONAL ENVELOPE, based in Uniondale, New York, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protec- tion on June 10, while describing its intentions to reorganize under a financial-restructuring plan. Founded in 1952, National Envelope now claims to be the largest manufacturer of envelopes in the world, with 14 manufactur- ing facilities, two distribution centres, and ap- proximately 3,500 employees in the U.S. and Canada. The company expects to keep all of its facilities open during the Chapter 11 reor- ganization process, being led by Interim CEO Stephen Gawrylewski.
PIERRE ROBERGE, President of Montreal-based
Etiquettes Profecta, announced plans to move
into a new 39,300-square-foot facility in
nearby Saint Hubert. To avoid disruption to
its current service and production flow, the
company plans to make its move in several
phases leading into September 2010. Etiquettes Profecta (Profecta Labels) Inc. was established in 1992 and currently focuses on
both flexography and toner-based printing for
clients in Canada and the United States. Profecta’s significant growth over the past couple
years, including a 23 percent growth in sales
and the opening of 166 new accounts in 2009.
Much of that growth is attributed to the company’s move into toner-based production four
years ago, which now involves two HP Indigo
ws4500s.
